Approximately 88.3% of the company’s energy needs are derived from renewable sources. Notable projects include a biomass-fired steam generation initiative registered under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as part of the Kyoto Protocol, and the operation of windmills with a combined capacity of 16 MW.
The company’s focus on energy conservation has resulted in an annual saving of 20,435 GJ. By adopting innovative technologies and green chemistry practices, waste generation has been minimized, and operational efficiency has improved.
Shilpa Medicare has adopted a zero-discharge policy for effluent management, ensuring effective waste treatment and water recycling. Key highlights include recycling 65,376 KL of water annually and reducing raw water consumption by 9% compared to the previous year. Effluents are segregated based on high and low COD/TDS to enable effective treatment.
To support biodiversity, the company has developed a green belt that covers 33% of its total site area, enhancing local flora and fauna while maintaining a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing environment.
