Description
Dosage and Administration
- Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface to avoid contamination.
- Close eyes gently and apply pressure at the inner corner (nasolacrimal duct) for 1–2 minutes after instillation to reduce systemic absorption.
Side Effects
- Temporary stinging or burning sensation
- Dry eyes
- Blurred vision
- Eye discomfort
Less common but serious side effects may include:
- Bradycardia (slow heart rate)
- Hypotension
- Breathing difficulties, especially in patients with asthma or COPD
- Fatigue or dizziness
- Depression or mood changes (rare)
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sinus bradycardia, heart block, or cardiac failure.
- Use with caution in diabetic patients, as it may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia.
- Inform the doctor of all ongoing medications, existing heart/lung conditions, and allergies.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a healthcare provider.
- Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting.
