Description:

i-pill is a single-dose emergency contraceptive tablet containing Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg, designed to help prevent unplanned pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure (e.g., broken condom, missed birth control pills). It is intended only for emergency use and not as a regular contraceptive method.

Mechanism of Action:
Levonorgestrel works primarily by:

  • Preventing or delaying ovulation
  • Hindering fertilization of the egg
  • Possibly preventing implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus

It is most effective when taken as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, and not later than 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected intercourse.

Dosage and Administration
  • Take one tablet (1.5 mg) orally as a single dose.
  • The sooner it is taken, the higher the efficacy.
  • It should not be used more than once in a menstrual cycle.
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Breast tenderness
  • Changes in menstrual bleeding (earlier, delayed, or heavier)
  • i-pill is not an abortion pill and will not work if you’re already pregnant.
  • It is not a substitute for regular contraception.
  • Frequent use may lead to menstrual irregularities.
  • Consult a doctor if vomiting occurs within 2 hours of taking the pill (as a repeat dose may be necessary).
  • Not recommended for individuals under 16 without medical advice.
