Description:

Avastin 400 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody designed to inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). By blocking VEGF-A, Avastin prevents the growth of new blood vessels that supply nutrients to tumors, thereby restricting tumor growth and spread.

It is used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens to treat several types of advanced cancers.

  • High blood pressure (hypertension)

Serious:

  • Gastrointestinal perforations
  • Severe bleeding (hemorrhage)
  • Blood clots
  • Impaired wound healing
  • Heart failure

Patients must be closely monitored during treatment.

  • Avastin should not be used within 28 days before or after surgery.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy due to the risk of fetal harm.
  • Contraception should be used during treatment and for at least 6 months after the last dose.
  • Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and wound healing is essential.
  • Inform your doctor about any history of heart disease, bleeding disorders, or recent surgery.
