Composition: Ciprofloxacin USP 100 ml

Description:

ARCHERCIP contains ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Formulated as a 0.2% w/v ophthalmic solution, it is intended for topical application to the eyes. Ciprofloxacin functions by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair, leading to bacterial cell death. ​

ARCHERCIP is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye, including:​

  • Bacterial Conjunctivitis:
    An infection of the membrane covering the outside of the eyeball and the inside of the eyelid (pink eye). ​
  • Corneal Ulcers:
    An infection and loss of tissue in the clear front part of the eye.

Description

Dosage and Administration
  1. Hand Hygiene:
    Wash hands thoroughly before administering the drops.
  2. Application:
    • Shake the bottle well before use.​
    • Tilt the head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.​
    • Hold the dropper directly over the eye and instill the prescribed number of drops into the pocket.​
    • Close the eye gently and press on the inner corner for about one minute to prevent drainage into the tear duct.​
  3. Avoid Contamination:
    Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye, to prevent contamination.
  4. Contact Lenses:
    Remove contact lenses prior to application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. It is advisable to avoid wearing contact lenses during the course of treatment.

  • Severe Eye Irritation:
    Intense burning, stinging, swelling, or pain.​
  • Hypersensitivity Reactions:
    Signs include rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.​
  • Hypersensitivity:
    Contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, other quinolones, or any components of the formulation. ​
  • Prolonged Use:
    Extended use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, discontinue use and initiate appropriate therapy. ​
  • Contact Lens Wearers:
    Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis. Consult with a healthcare provider regarding the appropriate time to resume contact lens use. ​
  • Pregnancy and Lactation:
    Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Caution is advised when administering to nursing women.
