Description
Dosage and Administration
- The standard dose is 1000 mg (4 tablets of 250 mg) once daily, taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.
- Must be taken in combination with a corticosteroid (typically prednisone 5 mg twice daily).
- Treatment should be supervised by an oncologist or urologist specialized in prostate cancer care.
- Dose modifications may be required in case of liver toxicity or adverse reactions.

Precautions
- Not indicated for use in women or children.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation – may cause fetal harm.
- Regular monitoring of liver function, blood pressure, serum potassium, and fluid retention is necessary.
- Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease should be closely monitored.
- Abiraterone should always be co-administered with corticosteroids to reduce the risk of mineralocorticoid-related adverse effects.
- Inform the doctor about all ongoing medications, especially for hypertension, diabetes, or heart disease.
