Description:
Capetrox (Capecitabine Tablets 500 mg) is an oral chemotherapy drug used in the treatment of various solid tumors. It is a prodrug that is enzymatically converted in the body to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), a cytotoxic agent that interferes with DNA synthesis in cancer cells, leading to their death. Its targeted conversion within tumor tissues helps maximize efficacy while minimizing systemic toxicity.
Capecitabine is converted to 5-FU preferentially within tumor cells. 5-FU inhibits the enzyme thymidylate synthase, disrupting DNA synthesis and repair. This selectively impacts rapidly dividing cancer cells, slowing or stopping tumor growth. 5 – FU inhibits the enzyme thymidylate synthase.
